About

In 2016, when wildfires struck Sevier County, Derek and Romaine were inspired by the way the community there came together, and in particular by the efforts of the Dollywood Foundation and the My People Fund to raise awareness and give back. Charitable efforts are a great way to get people back on their feet and growth of the local economy keeps them standing for years to come.

After Hurricane Katrina struck, we encouraged our radio show listeners in the years that followed to support the ongoing growth and recovery of New Orleans by doing what many of us in the LGBT community do best: visiting and spending money at local businesses.

Our listeners love to travel together and over the years they have generated millions of dollars in economic activity. Pouring money into a local economy is a great way to support the people who live there through the dignity of work and to show support for their talents and effort. And have a great time doing it!

We want to encourage everyone to visit Sevier County and support the people who live and work there. When a community depends on tourism for so many local jobs, natural disasters are especially hard to recover from if tourists stay away. Especially if you have never visited the Great Smoky Mountains, Sevier County, or the many wonderful events, shows and attractions there, now is the perfect time to show your support.

When you want to create positive change in the world, it all starts with you. That’s why we are encouraging the listeners of our radio show to join us in Pigeon Forge, TN and spend their money there the weekend of Sep 21-24, 2018. We will have a variety of group events at area businesses, but we encourage people to make the trip their own and explore the many wonderful shops, restaurants and attractions that make the area such a great destination and support the people who live and work there.

But whether you join us that weekend or not, we hope you will consider your own trip to the area soon. And if you can’t visit, you can support the continuing efforts to recover from the wildfires by supporting the fine work of the Mountain Tough Recovery Team (http://www.mountaintough.org) or thank Dolly Parton for her tireless efforts with support for her Imagination Library.

Here’s to a fun weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains. We hope to see you there!
